The little boats were ashore and resting on their construction cradle ... hauling each boat every Thursday was the final 'water' test of our sailing T...uesday/Thursday class.It is amazing how much muscle an eight year old kid can put on during a summer of lifting, hauling and turning 77 pounds of awkward plywood hull. What was a struggle in June is easy in August.Tuesday/Thursday was sailing. Noon to four ... but everybody showed up at ten. There's a lot of rigging to do when the boat is upside. All evening I had her attention but I never touched her, brushed up against her; no; I remember now. We had embraced at our initial meeting of hellos and how are you. She was so close, that now I could feel the skin of her nose slowly brushing mine, her eyes were still closed as she continued her forward motion with no rush. It seemed that she had choreographed this moment, but how did she know that I would not pull away? I could do. But I didn’t. She moved closer still, even now that we had. They stripped the dead man of valuables, but could not find any identification, so they collected their horses and went looking for the trail of the man who had hastily ridden away. They had no trouble finding the trail and following it, something easy to do when a horse is running. They hurried after the man they assumed to be Glover, but they were also careful to watch for sign of a potential ambush—one time a day is often enough!The trail led into an area of rugged hills and old-growth. Melody and Lissa were on their way out the door with the boys, all of whom I hugged, kissed and wished a good day to. I headed for the shower. A minute later, hands caressed my back and soaped my shoulders. I turned to see Wendy, intent on washing me. I started to say thank you, but she silenced me with a gentle kiss. When I was clean and shampooed, she toweled me off and pointed to the sink where my toothbrush and shaving gear were.I stepped out of the bathroom to find Wendy with my clothes.
