As my eyes slowly fluttered open, still heavy with sleep, I found himleaning on his elbow above me, a smile on his face."What are you doing?" I sleepily asked."Just watching you sleep. You looked so peaceful I didn't want to wakeyou." He paused, waiting for. This will be a piece of cake." Cheater!" she said with an accusatory look and a smile."Oh, so there are rules to this game?" Maybe." I see," he said with one eyebrow raised. "I'll have you know, then, that I will make the rules."Again a shiver crept up her spine. In a voice just above a whisper she replied, "And I will follow them, happily."She loved the light submission she had succumbed to. It wasn't full blown but it was enough to feed into her budding sub needs. Inevitably she wouldn't make. "Would you like a lemon drop or a jujube?" No, thanks," Marnie replied, and as the secretary went back to her typing, Marnie reviewed the completely blank page which was her "notes" for the meeting. The questions she needed to ask were too obvious to be written down, and the questions she wanted to ask she didn't dare. Before she could renew that old argument in her head, the door opened and out strode someone Marnie vaguely recalled from old newspaper photos she'd researched seemingly-ages. She hurried about the corner and nearly ran into her husband who pretended to come around the corner at the same time. They collided. Maurice could tell that his wife was flustered form her black encounter of the close kind. He knew that Miriam was no racist but she never had much contact with 'those nigras' as her Daddy used to say.Later that night as they slept, Maurice dreamed that his lovely blonde wife was in bed with the black guy from the grocery store.
