Around 9:00pm my wife mentioned that it was time to get our daughter to bed. Without objection I jumped up and chased her down. Bedtime was daddy da...ughter time, and happened to be my favorite time of the day. It always took about thirty minutes to get her changed, read her a story and lay in her bed until she fell asleep, and often times I would fall asleep as well, but not that night. While laying at the foot of my daughter's bed, listening to the laughter of the whole cul-de-sac. “We can meet tonight.” I say in a voice barely above a whisper. He looks at me and nods. “Same place?” He asks and I nod. “Alright.”I nod and then look at where Peter and Kristy sat. They were doing a better job at keeping their distance, Peter now sitting closer to Rob. I wanted to go say something, but I wouldn't know what to say. Some of the kids call for us and we run down, knowing I could talk to Keenan tonight, if I was going to tell him anything.* * * * * I snuck out that night, leaving. He and Keri were having an in-depth conversation about something I had no interest in, and she followed him in to the bathroom and sat while he undressed and entered the clear glass shower. Gwen and I were sitting on the couch procrastinating about getting changed for dinner. With the pretext of asking how soon they would be ready, and curious about what was going on in the bathroom, I got up and opened the door enough to see inside. Keri was sitting on the closed seat of the toilet in her bra. It all happened so quickly, yet it all seemed to unfold in slow motion too. Suddenly both women were in each other’s arms, instinctively steadying each other from toppling over from the impact of their collision. “Wow!” The other woman called out, apparently taken by surprise. “I’m so sorry; I wasn’t looking where I was…” Shirley started to apologize profusely but stopped mid sentence the instant she recognized the other woman as Loraine, the Lesbian woman she had befriended at the night club.
