I walked out into the hallway and looked down along the west wall of the gym. It was very quiet. I walked out onto the basketball court floor and look...ed up, wondering if she'd be walking around the top level of the gym. She wasn't.Was she still in the women's locker room? I decided to check it out, and as I moved closer to the locker room door, my mind started going bonkers with scenarios of her slipping on some water and hitting her head on a sink, or being attacked by someone hiding in. I went back to work until the end of the school day without incident. When class was finally over I went to the teachers lounge. I relaxed and had a cup of coffee for a few minutes of peace and quiet. After my coffee, I got up and headed for the school pool to change into my swimsuit, and get some exercise in the pool.I reached the girls locker room. I took one step in, remembered the vomit story Frank mentioned earlier, and after smelling the air I decided to head over to the boys locker room. " We're eating flowers?" Tim asked with an expression of disgust on his face.Eddie nodded his head and said, "I've had them before. They aren't all that bad."Tim eyed the plate when it was set in front of him and poked the food with his fork. He asked, "What's a truffle?" It is an expensive mushroom," Lucy answered. She was eyeing her dish with more than a little suspicion as well."No need to use expensive mushrooms for me," Ken said. He took a bite of the dish and looked around with a grin.. Would I not come back downstairs and say goodnight to everyone? But my despair at what had just taken place was too great to conceive of doing anything of the sort. I apologised and told her I wanted to sleep. She placed a hand on my forehead, laughed and exclaimed, “No wonder. You’re burning up!”Getting to her feet, she left the room as gracefully as she could, pausing only to wink and wish her young lady a good night. I lay there in the dark, a woman’s determination pumping through my veins.
